New Eyes

Written by Payton Lee in The Backpack

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” Marcel Proust

I have driven by and ridden my bike by this small barn at least 50 times. The other day I just happened to stop biking and pull off the side of the road to get a drink of water. As I looked around at the beautiful scenery of Crested Butte, I noticed the simplicity of this little barn. A bit out of place, but the most perfect setting for a barn, surrounded by a small lake, flowing grasses, winding roads and trails, and a backdrop of snow capped mountains. I definitely discovered some "new eyes" on this day, and now every time I ride by it won't just be a passing view; it will be one to take note of.
